Carmen Tyler
Carmen was raised in Pittsburgh, Pa, finishing undergrad in North Carolina and worked at a boarding school in Washington DC where she also completed cosmetology school. Carmen's appreciation for healthy hair begins first with passion for healthy people. Carmen comes to us from the neighboring eastside sola salons. With 11 years in the industry Carmens specialties include a sharp silk press, loc maintenance, fresh color and curly cuts.
Tiara Thomas
Tiara was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She has been in the industry for 5 years, and worked exclusively with naturally curly hair right from the start. Tiara knew she wanted to get into the cosmetology field when she was 11 years old. “I decided to go natural and it was one of the most powerful things I’ve ever done! Tiara’s specialties include curly cuts, balayage highlights, and curl by curl highlighting. We are so happy to bring another curl specialist to the team, welcome Tiara!
Lenjuan (Lenny) Smith
Lenjuan also known as "Lenny" comes to Chelsea Rae after working 11 years in a Monroeville area salon. Lenny was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and today is a wife and mother of three. She knew at a very young age that she wanted to pursue a career in cosmetology. She has been in the industry since high school, where she attended Forbes road CTC. Lennys specialties include curly cuts, silk presses, two strand twists, braiding, color blocking and loc-retwisting.
Jess Sved
Jess joined Chelsea Rae Salon after working in the neighboring Shadyside area. She has been in the industry for 3 years. Jess is originally from Miami Florida and came to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University for design and architecture. After college Jessica sought out a career that would allow her to help people more directly. That’s when she fell in love with the cosmetology industry. Jess’s specialties include curly cuts, vivid colors, balayage highlights, and edgy cuts.
Chelsea Rae
Chelsea was raised in the Southside of Pittsburgh. Her first love of basketball took her to Longwood University in Virginia where she was a student athlete, and studied radio broadcasting and journalism. After college Chelsea decided to enroll in cosmetology school, as hair had quickly turned into a hobby of hers during her college years. Chelsea's main goal is not only to provide naturally curly haircare in its simplest form, but also to teach clients that it doesn't have to be complicated.
